Homemade Açaí Bowl

IMG_5130.JPG

Açaí bowls are both delicious and full of nutrients. Açaí is a Brazilian superfood berry found on açaí palm trees; it’s full of antioxidants, fiber, heart-healthy fats, and calcium. It’s perfect for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and as a snack—basically during anytime of the day! My favorite time to enjoy an açaí bowl is after a workout. It helps with hydration, recovery, and fueling your body. Here is my favorite recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 1 pack of Sambazon Açai

  • 1 cup of frozen fruit

  • 1 whole banana

  • 1 tbsp natural peanut butter

  • other fresh fruit is optional (mango, strawberries, etc.)

You can also blend in almond, soy, coconut milk, apple juice, or water to make the texture more "watery." I like mine thick, so I try not to use any liquid!

Directions: Add all ingredients to your blender. Beware, if you are not using any liquids you may have to stop a couple of times and mix the ingredients with a spoon! (So worth it for the amazing texture.) Once you have a nice smooth texture, add it to your favorite bowl. Then it's time for the best part: THE TOPPINGS. I like to use gluten free granola, 1 tbsp chia seeds, half a banana, and agave. Other fresh fruit is optional, and a scoop of natural peanut butter on top is life changing!

ENJOY!
